Who can borrow THATLL equipment?

Staff in schools across the borough can borrow THATLL equipment on behalf of a specific named pupil or pupils. THATLL does not lend equipment to schools for generic use. Staff in out of borough schools can borrow THATLL equipment for Tower Hamlets pupils.

HOW DO I ORDER THATLL equipment?

Please use the contact form or thatll@stephenhawking.towerhamlets.sch.uk. You will need to include:

  • the name of your school and your school email address
  • the full name and date of birth of the student or students who will be using the equipment
  • the full name and school email address of the member of staff who will be responsible for the equipment whilst on loan to your school
  • full details of the equipment you wish to borrow (please refer to the equipment list)

What equipment does THATLL loan out?

Which pupils is THATLL equipment suitable for?

Essentially, equipment can be lent to any pupil who needs these specialist resources to enable curriculum access. They may have a range of needs such as:

  • physical impairments
  • poor fine and gross motor control
  • visual and hearing impairments
  • communication and interaction needs such as speech and language difficulties
  • cognition and learning difficulties

HOW LONG CAN I BORROW THATLL EQUIPMENT FOR?

Most THATLL equipment can be kept by the loanee until it is no longer needed or the pupil on whose behalf it has been borrowed leaves the loanee's school. It is the responsibility of the loanee to return the loaned equipment to Stephen Hawking School in good condition at the end of the loan period.

Certain THATLL equipment, such as iPads, can only be loaned for shorter periods of time and different loan conditions apply.

DO I HAVE TO PAY TO BORROW THATLL EQUIPMENT?

No, the service is free to London Borough of Tower Hamlets schools.

WILL THATLL Deliver or collect my THATLL equipment?

No. It is the responsibility of the loanee to collect their equipment and to return it in good condition at the end of the loan period. Equipment should be collected from and returned to Reception at Stephen Hawking School, Brunton Place, London E14 7LL. Equipment can be collected from and returned any term-time weekday between 09.00 & 17.00.

when will my THATLL equipment be ready for collection?

You will be notified by email when your equipment is ready for collection. This will generally be 48-72 hours from receipt of your request. The THATLL service is not available outside term-time.

Who will set my THATLL equipment up and maintain it?

The loanee's school's IT support service will be responsible for setting up  your equipment at your site, maintaining it, customising it for the pupil's needs and for first line technical support. If your school's IT support service is unable to solve an issue with the equipment, email thatll@stephenhawking.towerhamlets.sch.uk for advice and/or to arrange the equipment's return and replacement.

In cases of technical difficulty with a Stone NB-1210 W515LU netbook, the loanee should contact Stone directly, either by raising a support ticket via: https://www.stonegroup.co.uk/contact/raise-support-ticket/ or by telephoning 08448 802 366. You must provide the netbook's serial number AND let Stone know that the netbook is on loan from THATLL at Stephen Hawking School.

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR INSURING THATLL EQUIPMENT WHILE IT IS ON LOAN?

The loanee will need to add THATLL equipment to their school insurance inventory whilst it is on loan.

WHAT HAPPENS IF THATLL EQUIPMENT IS DAMAGED OR LOST WHILE IT IS ON LOAN?

If the THATLL equipment damaged or lost whilst on loan, please email thatll@stephenhawking.towerhamlets.sch.uk with full details. THATLL reserve the right to invoice your school for repair or replacement. Certain THATLL equipment, such as iPads, have different loan conditions and any damage to or loss of these items will be charged.

CAN PUPILS USE THATLL EQUIPMENT AT HOME?

Yes. The pupil's school will, however, remain responsible for the safe return of the THATLL equipment at the end of the loan period (see above).

DOES THATLL loan software?

No. The loanee's school will need to purchase any software and associated licenses required. If you need advice on what software would be appropriate for a particular pupil, please email thatll@stephenhawking.towerhamlets.sch.uk for advice.
